Pierless Adventures - March 16 - Wednesday - Mexican Hold-em...

Lots of sorting and tossing today.  Worked on clearing out dead weight in the "hold'...  I bought the boat from a couple who lived aboard for many years.  When they sold it, they left a lot of stuff onboard.  Linens, kitchen ware, tools, supplies, parts, dive gear, canoe, paddle board - the list goes on.  Many of the items are useful and of value.  We also appreciated having tools and hardware onboard for repairs last year.  The downside is the boat is fairly well stuffed with stuff.  It makes working on projects difficult as items have to be moved back and forth multiple times to access different areas of the boat.  With a final crew of four, we need room for everyone to function.  So...  Time to sort and toss in earnest!

We will offer some items of value up for sale on local cruiser bulletin boards.  We will give much of it away to folks here in the boat yard as well.  This "weeding" will help make living in close quarters less stressful for everyone.

We are nearly finished with the port water filler hose repair.  We changed course mid-stream on this one when we realized the old hose was easier to remove than it first appeared.  The  new hose is installed in a similar fashion, but with better quality hose and secure attachments.

Lunch and dinner was leftover pizza from last night.  This was a big help as Scott was servicing the stove burners to get better performance out of them.  Their burner flames were a little anemic...  Much better now!

From Scott:

We are settling into a rhythm that includes bribing the two yard dogs, Chester and Simba, with dog biscuits we bought. Simba is a genial pit bull mix but el jeffe, the boss, is Chester, the 12-pound chihuahua. Chester has advanced from barking at us to pretending we don't exist to finally deigning to notice us there is no other plausible distraction.

The shower in the boat yard has been cold, in fact I puzzled over both controls as there was no difference in temperature between the two. While Brian lazed in regal splendor in the Captain's cabin this morning, I got up early from my cardboard box and found hot water galore! Apparently, the water heater is on a timer and the early bird gets the agua caliente. By noon, the water is lukewarm at best. I told Brian about it tonight at dinner.
