Pierless Adventures - April 3 -
Mexico is now on daylight savings time. I don't know why they change on a different date than the US, but they do. I vote for not bothering with time changes at all...
We determined that my venture to Home Depot was not a complete success. There is one more part we need to finish the faucet installation in the head. Always one thing more... I'll try to get it at the local hardware store in the morning. We are trying to get the cabin back in order so Dave will think we have actually been doing something the last three weeks.
I reorganized the tool locker and managed to free up a shelf in the process. The v-berth has been cleared out and panels put back in place. Looking pretty nice up there. Dave will have a choice between one of the pilot berths or the v-berth in the bow. I am moving back to the quarter berth.
Perhaps I should clarify: The v-berth is up in the bow. It is called "v-berth" because the bow narrows and the berth there is the shape of a V. The pilot berths are on either side of the boat, above and behind the settee (the seats on each side of the table). Quarter berths are on the side of the boat in the aft quarter. Usually partially or completely below the cockpit.Later in the day we opened up the dungeon - also known as the stern locker. It is a convenient storage area at the back of the boat. It is mostly filled with a variety of ropes used for anchoring or tying up the boat at the dock. Some new, some old, so it was time to go through it and determine what to toss and what to keep. At first glance, it looks rather small. It is actually fairly deep and extends to both sides of the boat.
We are meeting new people over here in the marina. Lots of folks are here to enjoy the winter cruising season. Last year we were here May to early July. Most of the seasonal sailors were long gone by then. It is nice to have some folks around to talk with and share information.
One of our favorite new neighbors is Tilly. Tilly is a young lass of about 8 months and lives on the boat that shares our finger pier. Pretty hairy for her age. Quite energetic and loves attention. She is filling the void left since leaving the boatyard. We have been missing Chester and Simba.All-in-all, the marina is pretty nice to be in.
Looking forward to meeting Dave tomorrow!
