March 15, 2023 - Wednesday - Making the Cut...
Finished port side cleaning.
Cut board for access to water tank
Helped Richard launch and dock his boat.
Met two marina dogs.
As I mentioned yesterday, problems with my laptop are keeping me from posting pictures (for now). I will continue the blog without and attempt to post daily.
Fixing my water tank leak was my first priority today. There is something unnerving about taking a saw to a perfectly nice teak panel, but such was my first task for this repair. The starboard (right) water tank developed a leak while I was away, and the only way I could gain access to the area was by cutting my way in! Not my first choice, but it will work. With a little trim, it should look fine.
I taped the line I wanted to cut, fired up my borrowed saw and made some noise. The cut came out pretty good for free-hand. With the panel section removed, I had clear access to the leak. As suspected, the flange seal had failed. I have a new flange on board, so will drain the tank and start repairs tomorrow.
My cleaning efforts continue as well. I am doing the boat in sections, alternating cleaning with other tasks to avoid too much of one activity. My back prefers this...
Richard splashed (put his boat back in the water) today, so I helped him into his slip at the marina. He had his bottom (of the boat) painted. He will be heading west sometime soon.
I met a couple of the marina dogs. I bought treats, so we are becoming fast friends.
