April 5, 2023 - Wednesday
Easter is coming up this weekend. The celebrations start as early as Thursday, with banks and other institutions shutting down until next week. Anticipating this, I dropped by the boatyard and scheduled a haulout for next Wednesday. I need to inspect the bottom, service my thru-hulls, change my prop, install new zincs and see if bottom paint is needed. Having a fixed date will motivate me to get my engine maintenance done.
With the help of my neighbor (Ed from Edmonds), we installed my new deck blocks. Two people are needed, one on deck and one in the cabin. It only took a few minutes, though the prep before did take a while. I'll let it sit today and tighten it some more tomorrow. Looks good!
My new laptop arrived yesterday and I picked it up this morning. It is a lower-end Lenovo. Seems fine. I am running the seemingly endless list of MS updates now. When that is done, I'll load some more apps and get to work! Maybe I'll get my chart plotter updated and the radar working tomorrow!
I discovered a problem with one of my arch braces yesterday. The arch is above the cockpit. It supports my solar panels and is where my paddle board is stored. There is only one diagonal brace and it has worked loose. I am securing the ends with a bolt and some epoxy. That should get me home okay.
We had some calmdays recently, and warmer. Today we are back to wind and cooler.
Now that I have a computer, I will start including pictures with my blogs!
